Congratulations to Sam Sethna, Teays Valley, 2022 for selecting Otterbein University, Westerville, Oh, to continue his academic pursuits and play college baseball! Otterbein's team is known as the 'Cardinals' and competes in the tough Ohio Athletic Conference comprised of NCAA Division III schools. In 2022, the Cardinals were 27-15 overall with a solid 14-4 conference record.
Going to college and playing college baseball is a big deal for anyone, and Post 11 is very happy for Sam and proud of his accomplishment. He has certainly worked hard and deserves it, putting in countless hours working on his baseball craft!
Sam played for Post 11 last summer and was an integral part of the 2021 squad that landed a district win and an ALB Ohio State Tournament berth with a 4th place finish. During the season he played in 31 of 33 games; pitched in 11 games with an exceptional ERA of 1.87 and WHIP of 1.56 over 41 innings; and had 80 trips to the plate with a .377 OBP. Bottom line, Sam played great baseball and he kept guys from scoring when he was on the mound. Additionally, Sam has set an example for promoting oneself to colleges and was one of several Post 11 players scouted last summer during ALB tournaments. Post 11 is honored that Sam is returning for the 2022 season before he heads off to Otterbein.
Below is an interview with Sam on his decision to go to college and play baseball. It's a great read. You'll quickly see Sam's intentional, competitive spirit, hard-working attitude and his strong, family orientation.
